If a recent report is anything to go by, Asus may have themselves a beast of a flagship in the ZenFone 5z. Benchmark tests are one of many measures of a powerful device and considering this is only one test result, everything should be kept within context. However, this is a promising development in the world of ZenFone.
GadgetMatch.com has an exclusive screenshot of an AnTuTu benchmark score of 274,499. This is the highest ever score on the AnTuTu benchmark app. Impressive to be sure! To give some perspective, GadgetMatch.com indicates that the Samsung Galaxy S9+ (Snapdragon 845) scored 264,769 in March 2018. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S scored a 273,741 to give further perspective.
The Snapdragon 845 in the ZenFone 5z is top of the line and this early indicator says as much. One has to wonder how the relationship between Qualcomm and Asus has benefited them in getting the most out of the processor.
The ZenFone 5z (ZS620KL) is due for a June release date so not a lot of time to wait. It shares the same design of the less robust ZenFone 5 (ZE620KL) but the 5z hardware is more premium and top end. Price has not yet been unveiled, however the current ZenFone 5 models announced so far all have incredibly low price point in comparison to the previous two years of ZenFone releases. It’s a safe bet that the ZenFone 5z is going to be priced below the flagships from every other competitor out there.
If you live outside of Asia, you won’t likely see the ZenFone 5z available to buy in June. Expect Taiwan and a few other Asian countries to get this phone first. That means you have to consider either waiting or look at buying from one of those lucky early countries.
