New Asus Zenfone 4V (V520KL) A006 shows up at FCC

Here is something interesting. The A006 model Zenfone has just showed up at the FCC. Certainly this bodes well for an earlier release in comparison to last year and the Zenfone 3. We just don’t know details of the A006, but we are going to dig right now and get some more information if it does exist out there.

Here is what we are expecting. Nothing official from Asus, but various tidbits have emerged online regarding the A006. This is the Zenfone 4V (V520KL) which is set to be a Verizon exclusive. Based on the model number, it’s  5.2-inch smartphone sporting a Snapdragon processor.

Some previous spec details were found in a GFXBench listing a number of weeks ago. The Zenfone 4V has a quad-core 2.1GHz processors, Adreno 530 GPU, 1920 x 1080 resolution screen, 4GB RAM and 32GB storage. The cameras are likely to be a 21MP rear and 8MP front facing.

Stay tuned…

Pre orders starting soon for Zenfone 4 Max (ZC554KL) available in Russia

And just like that. The Asus Russia online store now has product listings for the black and gold Zenfone 4 Max smartphones. The order button is set to activate based on the completion and details on the product pages themselves.

So clearly this launch was planned and no accident. It’s safe to say that this is the most interesting launches that we’ve seen from Asus when it comes to their smartphones. It’s certainly different. We aren’t complaining that’s for sure!

The model numbers with product pages:

  • ZC554KL-4G002RU (gold)
  • ZC554KL-4A001RU (black)

From Russia (Asus) with love, comes the Zenfone 4 Max (ZC554KL)

I betcha didn’t see this one coming! We sure didn’t. We’ve seen ZenPad tablets show up out of the blue without nary a mention, but a new Zenfone 4? This appears to be true and it’s officially up on the Asus Russia website.

It’s one of two things. Either Asus Russia slipped up or they are simply in a rush to get this model out the door. Certainly the Zenfone 4 Max (ZC554KL) isn’t a top end model. Rather it’s the budget series but still we would have expected Asus to hold back rather than have a fragmented Zenfone 4 release.

We are just setting up our dedicated page for this new model, but here is an overview. It’s 5.5-inches with a Snapdragon 430 or Snapdragon 425, along with a 5,000mAh battery. The notable design feature is the seemingly slim design even though it’s packing such a substantial battery inside.

From a design perspective there is nothing that screams budget phone. Three different colors, improved rear camera that allow for wide angle photography among various other improvements over the previous generation Zenfone 3 Max.

Reports indicate a price of RUB 13,900 for a 2GB RAM / 16GB storage model with Snapdragon S425.

We will break down all the details and specs on our ZC554KL specific page coming right up!

September Asus event in Rome hints at Zenfone 4 unveiling

The increasingly effective sleuthing Roland Quandt has posted an interesting event invitation. What to make of it? You be the judge!

We have seen recent indicators (leaks) about a Zenfone 4V or simply Zenfone V. If you look at the one image in the center of the invitation it’s quite pronounced. Sure looks like a “V” to us! The frame around the “V” indicates a tracking feature of some sort. When it says, “frame the date” there is little left to the imagination.

The first sentence “take a walk on the wide side” is open for discussion. That could mean a few things. Asus hasn’t shied away from doing the amazing or unexpected. The “wide side” could mean a smartphone with a new design feature. A two piece design, sliding out for example, is something which has been discussed or rumored by other companies.
