Asus pushes out a new software update for the Zenfone 2 Laser (ZE550KL)

Asus hasn’t forgotten about their last generation Zenfone 2 models. We see that there is a new update for the Zenfone 2 Laser.

The notes are very brief on this one. Asus lists that this update will fix some bugs and improve performance. I think anytime performance is improved it’s noteworthy.

The Zenfone 2 Laser does offer a removable battery which is something most manufacturers don’t offer these days. The ability to quick swap for a new battery is ultra convenient. At this point you might be able to find a Zenfone 2 Laser at a cheap price so it’s worth looking at buying.

Malaysia one step closer to Zenfone AR release as it shows up on SIRIM certification database

Malaysia is one step closer to the Zenfone AR (ZS571KL) release date. The Malaysian equivalent to the US FCC is SIRIM. It’s a certification database essentially and electronic will pass through SIRIM prior to seeing a retail release.

Essentially this means the Zenfone AR is one step closer to a release date in Malaysia. We have no specifics and no price at this time. However Asus certainly loves the Malaysian market so it’s likely to be a priority in comparison to most other markets.

The Zenfone AR is a ground breaking phone. It was first announced and shown off by Asus during the US based CES 2017 show which was in January 2017 in Las Vegas. It rightfully got a lot of press and recognition.

The specs are top notch and the screen resolution is the highest that Asus has ever made. It’s an AMOLED display which is ultimately the icing on the cake. The price isn’t going to be cheap, so expect something around the Zenfone 3 Deluxe (ZS570KL) range. The ZS571KL also is the first phone with a whopping 8GB RAM.

New Zenfone AR promo video – Release date nears

With a new promo video comes hope that the Zenfone AR (ZS571KL) is coming to a store near you soon. Things have been relatively quiet regarding the Zenfone AR so it’s about time we get something to get us all excited.

The Zenfone AR was first unveiled at CES 2017 in January to a lot of fanfare from the tech industry and news outlets. It’s a very unique offering and because of that, Asus did get some good coverage.

The big unknown right now is price. Based on the display resolution and features, I suspect we’re looking at something around the price of a Zenfone 3 Deluxe (ZS570).

The video below does delve into the features of the Zenfone AR. It almost gets bogged down in the details with how AR cameras work and what’s going on inside the phone to make the magic happen. It’s a bit confusing in all honesty. That said, brilliant high resolution display and a good overall spec sheet on this phone.

 

Software update for Zenfone 3 Zoom improves camera performance

The Zenfone 3 Zoom is currently available in a few select markets but North America is still awaiting availability. We did see some retail listings from the US a few weeks ago, but those have since been removed. Asia has seen a release but it appears that a wider global release has been delayed.

We’re already seen a few software updates for the new Zenfone 3 Zoom camera and here’s another one!

You can go into your system settings and get this update right away. Go the the last few settings and you will see a “check for updates” button.

As will most updates, it’s important to consider reviews of the Zenfone 3 Zoom and what software version they are running. In this case, with the numerous camera improvements rolled out since its release, the initial reviews may not be a fair representation of what they camera can do now.

New Zenfone 3 Deluxe (ZS570KL) update improves camera performance

Good news for Zenfone 3 Deluxe (ZS570KL) owners. Asus now has a new software update which sounds promising. According to release notes this update will improve camera performance and also provides an android security update.

Because I’m currently using a ZS570KL I will update my review if there are noticeable improvements to the camera performance. Without know the details, it’s going to be a bit of a guessing game for now.
